Airfix - A Selection of Kits from 1970 up to now

This is no complete List of AIRFIX kits. An excellent complete listing of Airfix kits with much background information is given in the CD Airfix Colectors Guide .
Highly recommended !

There will be included some kits here whose first issue fell into the late 1960´s. I aquired them in the early 70´s and early 80´s but did not built them and they have nothing to do with my early modelling phase.

I use the classifications of packaging styles as defined by the Airfix Collectors Club, which are explained in detail in the highly recommended website Collecting Airfix Kits .

The packaging styles Type 1 and Type 2 are not relevant here.

Type 3 header cards were introduced in the Autumn of 1963 and lasted into the 1970s.

Type 4 was the last plastic bag design before the blister packs were introduced in 1973.

Type 3 boxart was used from 1963 to 1973.

Type 4 boxart is characterised by the new round logo and kit name being in a corner box panel - 1973-197?

The Type 5 boxart featured a full-top artwork - available up to 1977

The Type 6 boxart featured the short-lived Airfix oval logo. Otherwise it was similar to the previous Type 5. The Type 6 box remained in production until the early 1980s.
