Manurba Toy Aircraft

Introduction

I'm fascinated that after more than 50 years I still remember so clearly some of the miniature toy aircraft from Manurba I had in my youth. The first  was the green twin engined aircraft, see picture 1 on the right. I somehow liked the unusual shape. This toy is unforgettable for me. Until now I'm not able to identify the original, it may be the Czech Avia B-158 or else.

The other was the Convair C-99, see pictures 2-4 below. It always was in my mind that on the underside of one wing there was a designation about the capacity of this cargo  aircraft . When I finally found this toy in an auction I could read exactly Convair C-99, Transporter 400 Mann [ = 400 men (troops) ] on the underside of the wing. Amazing.

I think I also had the Super Constellation and the Chance Vought Cutlass, see pictures below.

I do not remember if these toy aircraft were available open individually or came in HEINERLE lucky bags .

History

Manurba was a producer of premiums made from plastic. Examples are presented in  [ 1 ]. Manurba issued a series of miniature aircraft, which are presented here.

The company name Manurba is composed out of parts from the owner's names Manfred Urban. Mr. Urban closed down the company in the 1970's for health reasons. [ 1 ]

The choice of aircraft is remarkable as there are a lot of lesser known aircraft like the C.A.S.A. 207 Azor,  Convair XB-60 ( pictures 7 and 8 below ) or an Avro 707.
